Please note that the appointment line does not open until 8.30am - THE MORNING APPOINTMENTS ARE BOOKED FROM 8.30AM AND THE AFTERNOON APPOINTMENTS FROM 2PM

Reception is open throughout the day. Please note that there is not a doctor on site throughout the entire day.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT RELEASED UNTIL 8.30AM EACH DAY. THE AFTERNOON APPOINTMENTS ARE RELEASED AT 2PM DAILY.

Doctor's Consulting Times

Results are available by telephoning or attending reception after 1pm each day.

Please note that when the practice is closed - if you or your family need urgent medical care please phone 111 for medical advice or 999 in the event of a medical emergency

Types of appointments we offer:

Pre-Bookable / Advanced Appointment

These are appointments which are bookable up to 4 weeks in advance with a Clinician. Patients can choose the time and date and select the Clinician of their choice (please note that some of the doctors work part-time so are not available every day). The appointments are 10 minutes in length and are sufficient to review one medical problem at a time. These appointments are for medication reviews also. 

48 Hour Access Appointment

These are appointments which can be booked 48 hours before the appointment time and date for a more urgent medical requirement. You may not be offered the doctor of your choice and the times available may be limited. The appointments are embargoed until the 48 hour time limit and cannot be used until the embargo has expired. The morning appointments are released at 8.30am and the afternoon appointments at 2pm. These can be booked online via Patient Access.

Emergency Appointment

These appointments are for emergencies only. An emergency is where the patient feels that a 48 hour access appointment would be too long to wait and may have an impact on the patient’s ability to function normally. The receptionist will ask for the symptoms of the patient to allocate emergency appointments for their intended purpose, please do not be offended by being asked these questions. Important, there is less availability with regard to choice of doctor you wish to see and the times available for you to be seen. These appointments cannot be booked online via Patient Access.

Telephone Appointment – GP only

These appointments are where a GP calls a patient, relative or representative to discuss an aspect of the patients care. These appointments are 5 minutes in length and are at various times of the day with each doctor. These appointments are ideal for; medication queries, reissue of a medical certificate, blood and X-ray results and emergency contraception requests. These appointments are not intended to replace the face-to-face consultations with doctors but we hope that a good proportion of queries and notifications can be completed in a telephone call. these appointments cannot be booked through Patient Access

Nurse Appointments

You can book a nurse appointment Monday to Friday  - the receptionists will ask you the nature of the appointment so that you can be booked in with the correct nurse. PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR NURSING TEAM WORK ON AN APPOINTMENT SYSTEM.

We ask that patients provide the Reception team with the information that they need to appropriately book a consultation with the appropriate clinician. We do strive to offer appointments with a patients chosen clinician but this may not always be possible. If you have an urgent medical need you will always be seen by an appropriate clinician and referred on for treatment or guidance.

Cancellation of appointments

If you are unable to attend an appointment please ensure that you cancel the appointment so that it can to offered to another patient.

You can cancel be calling the practice on 0115 9282216, calling in at the practice and you can cancel through the online system. If you have a mobile number recorded on the system then you will receive a text message to remind you of the day/time of the appointment and you can cancel the appointment by following the instructions on the message.

Who should I see for my problem?

We operate as an integral team within the practice and in many cases the most suitable person to see within the Health Centre is not the doctor.

Practice Nurses
Management of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure. Well man and woman checks, travel advice and immunizations, minor illness, routine tests such as smears, blood pressure checks , wound care, removal of sutures, dressings etc.

Healthcare Assistants                                                                                      Performance of ECG, Spirometry, Health Checks, Phlebotomy and perform flu vaccinations.

Within the health centre the following services are also available.

Advice and monitoring of children under 5, advice re immunizations, feeding, behaviour, etc.

All aspects of ante-natal care.

School Nurses - Tel 8833100
Advice and monitoring of school age children, bed wetting, immunisations, etc.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception (0115 92 82216) before 10:30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the practice.

When We Are Closed

If you or your family need urgent medical care when the surgery is closed, please phone the usual daytime surgery number and your call will be redirected to the out-of-hours service. Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice or arrangements will be made for you to be seen by a health care professional.

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

NHS Urgent Care Centre

The new NHS Urgent Care Centre is now open at Seaton House, London Road, Nottingham NG2 4LA (next to the BBC building).  It is open 7AM - 9PM 365 days per year.

The centre can offer assessment and treatment for health conditions that are urgent but non-life threatening such as:

• Minor burns and scalds
• Minor head injury with no loss of consciousness
• Skin infections and animal bites
• Suspected broken bones, sprains and strains (X-ray will be available on-site)
• Eye infections and minor eye injuries 

The Health Centre premises will remain open to provide health services to patients registered with the Platform One Practice

Walk-in Centre, Seaton House, London Road

The current walk-in service ended on 30th September 2015.

Pharmacy Services

Your local pharmacy can also offer you advice and treatment if required for a range of minor ailments. Under the ‘Pharmacy First Scheme’ , if you are exempt from prescription charges,  you will be able to get the same medicines the GP would have prescribed free of charge for the following ailments:

Head lice, temperature / fever, sore throat, ear ache, teething pain and pain relief for tooth ache.

To access the service go to your local Pharmacy First pharmacist (look out for posters, leaflets and widow stickers for your nearest one).

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
